Bellydazzle's inaugural edition was an outstanding success and a heartwarming celebration of belly dance

Althea welcomed Boženka, the renowned choreographer for Shakira and American Bellydance Superstar, as a special guest. Together, they shared the stage and led workshops, passionately spreading their love for Oriental dance to numerous international participants.

Our Master Teachers

Ariel Khalil (Brazil)

✅️FOR THE FIRST TIME IN GREECE!! Ariel Khalih is a phenomenon of Orientaldance! She is just 19 years old and she first started Orientaldance at the age of 6!!!
✅️She is the winner of many national and international awards and she participated in DSA Dance Company “Dance South America” where she toured Brazil at the age of 9! Today, she is an International Conductor/Master Teacher and CEO of the "Bellydancer Akademy course", where more than 1000 students in +21 countries participate.
✅️She is the dancer who represents Brazil at SIOD, one of the largest oriental dance schools in Asia, teaching classes in several languages.
✅️Her favorite phrase is: "With Dedication, Determination and Discipline you can achieve everything you want!"

Boženka (USA)

✅️Bellydance Superstar Boženka is an award-winning, internationally acclaimed dancer performing and teaching worldwide.
✅️She has recorded several best-selling instructional and performance DVDs and has toured extensively with the celebrated “Bellydance Superstars” as a featured soloist. Through a professional dance career of 26 years, Boženka has been invited to teach and perform in over 50 countries.
✅️In 2006, Boženka won the coveted golden crown from the “Ahlan Wa Sahlan” dance festival in Cairo, Egypt where she was among 150 dancers from all over the world to compete for this honor. This glorious achievement was seen worldwide on CNN, which broadcasted the event with the title, “An American Belly Dancer has taken the Egyptian crown!”
✅️Boženka instructed and choreographed international superstar Shakira for her “Mongoose” world tour in 2004 and for her 2010 world tour “Shakira” and most recently for MTV VMAs 2024, working with the pop diva side by side to help her hone and polish her innate skills.

Althea (Greece)

✅️Althea is a multi-Award Winner International Bellydancer, as well as a passionate leader and choreographer of her groups and soloists athletes. She has won 24 first-place awards in numerous national & international competitions.Her inspiration for her choreographies is drawn from Art In Any Form!!
✅️She holds a degree from Veterinary Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,as well as a professional degree in Classical Music (Classical Harmony,Jazz Singing & Classical Guitar).
✅️She is known for her love for creating conceptual performances, which are either presented on stage or videoclips.The topics of the choreographies are mostly based on humanitarian issues which are intriguing her artistic instinct.
✅️During Covid times,Althea was performing exclusively at 'Qasr al Sarab' VIP Desert Resort, based in Abu Dhabi,UAE, and her audience were VIP guests and celebrities from all over the world.
✅️Nowadays, she is honoured to serve as a Master Teacher and Choreographer at numerous renowned Oriental Festivals worldwide, disseminating her expertise and unique dance style to Oriental and Fusion dancers from all over the world!

Rules of Participation

  • Each category must have at least 3 participants, otherwise the category will be merged with another category.
  • Necessary condition for a dancer to participate to the competition, is to attend at least one single workshop
  • Contestants have the right to compete in a higher level category but not in different levels at the same time.
  • Groups must have at least 3 persons.
  • In "Master BellyDazzler" Category participants must choreograph themselves. Styles allowed: Mezance, Classical Oriental, Lyrical.
  • In the other Professional Categories, the participants must be teachers or dancers who perform as a job, not just advanced level students.
  • A contestant who is taking part in Professional Categories has the right to additionally choose to compete in the “Master BellyDazzler” Category as long as they choreograph themselves in this specific case.
  • Styles allowed in Raqs Sharki Professional Category: Mezance or Classical Oriental (Veil and Isis Wings are allowed).
  • Styles allowed in Folklore Professional Category: Saidi/Ghawazee, Mowashah, Melaya, Nubian, Fellahi, Iraqi, Dabke, Haggalah (with the appropriate costumes for each).
  • Styles allowed in Fusion Professional Category: Lyrical, Fantasy, Flamenco Oriental, Tango Oriental, Latin Oriental, Contemporary Oriental (all props are accepted).
  • In Baladi/Shaaby Professional Category participants must wear the appropriate dress or galabeya for performing. The use of jeans trousers as a Shaaby costume is NOT permitted.

Judging Criteria for Solo (Excellent = 50)

  • TECHNIQUE: 10 (appropriate style, technique quality, lines, dynamics)
  • PERFORMANCE: 10 (emotion, expression, costume, hair & makeup, entrance & exit)
  • MUSICALITY & RHYTHM: 10 (appropriate music, rhythmic response, music values, variety)
  • SYNCHRONIZATION & SKILLS: 10 (scale of difficulty, use of space)
  • CHOREOGRAPHY: 10 (differentiation, innovation, formations, movements, variety, storyline/theme/idea/concept)

Raqs Sharqi (Oriental Dance) (Choreography workshop)

Learn a complete choreography to a classical Show Opening musical piece in Bozenka’s earthy and elegant signature style. This choreography is an aesthetically pleasing work of art with exquisite Oriental Dance body technique and rhythmical changes that typically occur in Classical Arab Compositions. It is sure to be an enjoyable experience for participants that will walk out dancing like stars!

Abdominal Techniques & Fluidity on Stage (Technique Workshop)

In this workshop, students will learn essential abdominal techniques and how to effectively apply them. Additionally, they will discover how to achieve a fluid and dynamic dance style, enhancing their stage presence and movement.

Learn how to 'unveil' a hundred options when dancing or improvising with a Silk Veil... Make your stage time unforgettable by re-inventing your Dramatic and Lyrical,artistic self in this heart-melting choreography.

 

12:30-14:30 Ariel Khalih

'Drum Power' (Drum Solo Choreography) (Ariel's Style)

In this session, Ariel will introduce her signature style, 'Drum Power', teaching all her main techniques for an impactful Drum Solo. Participants will also get her official drum solo track, gaining tools to elevate their percussion performances to the maximum!

 

14:30-16:30 Boženka

How to TAKSIM by Bozenka (Technique  Workshop )

Learn what is a “taksim” in Arabic Music and how to listen with sensitivity in order to move the body to simulate as if each sound was being produced by the dancer’s body. In this class, Bozenka carefully guides dancers to understand how to interpret a taksim. Attention to the music and recognizing musical nuances and how to interpret them, identifying and interpreting different instruments that come up in Arab music and simple guidelines on improvisation will all be discussed in this informative and transformative class.
